Understanding The Benefits of Electronic Resumes

Computers have changed the way we search for jobs in today's market. Electronic resumes and web resumes are now a very popular avenue to use when searching for a new job.
Computers help to save time and money for the employer by allowing them to search through hundreds (even thousands) of electronic resumes in a matter of minutes. Searching through a resume database easily brings up many potential candidates that meet the qualifications of the job position the employer is trying to fill.
By learning how to make your electronic resume stand out in a computerized resume database, you have a better chance of being selected for an interview. And don't worry if you're not "computer literate". Anyone can easily design an e-resume and post it to a database.
Just remember to keep your formatting simple, use sans-serif type on white paper and don't add graphics or very stylized fonts. Research the job position and make sure you use keywords throughout your resume that are related to the job position you're applying for. Just like you do a keyword search on a search engine (eg. Google, Yahoo!), an employer also does a keyword search to find the resumes of ideal candidates for their company. Help them by making your resume easy to find.
